Dan Eubanks Signs with Common Loon Records for Spring 2026 Release

DOTHAN, AL – July 18, 2025 — Common Loon Records is proud to announce the signing of veteran bassist and singer-songwriter Dan Eubanks to its artist roster. The label will release a new album of Eubanks’ original material in the spring of 2026.

Eubanks is widely known for his twelve-year tenure with the GRAMMY-nominated, eight-time IBMA Award-winning bluegrass band Special Consensus, based in Chicago. Recognized as one of the most technically proficient bassists in the history of the bluegrass genre, Eubanks has performed across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and is respected for his technical excellence, musicality, and emotional depth in live performance. He has also served as a sought-after educator at numerous music camps and has contributed to dozens of recordings over the course of his career.

While primarily known in the bluegrass world for his role as a sideman, Eubanks has also built a parallel career as a songwriter and multi-genre performer, collaborating with artists in jazz, blues, Americana, Latin, and rock traditions. He has previously released two albums of original material—Dyed in the Wool (2015) and Look What the City’s Done (2019)—as well as group projects with Dangerous Kitchen and Brilliant Corners.

“Before I joined Special Consensus, I moved to Nashville with the goal of pursuing songwriting,” Eubanks explains. “Playing full-time took center stage, and the opportunity to be part of such a respected touring band was one I couldn’t pass up. It’s been rewarding in every way a musician could hope for.”

He adds, “I’ve released two self-produced records of mostly original music—blending bluegrass, folk, country, and singer-songwriter styles—and I’ve continued to write throughout my time with Special Consensus. While the band draws on a wide range of material, I’ve contributed both solo and co-written songs to its releases.”

For his upcoming album on Common Loon Records, Eubanks will collaborate with a notable lineup of musicians, including Aaron Bibelhauser (The Bibelhauser Brothers, Wolfpen Branch, Michael Prewitt & CrunchGrass Supreme), Michael Prewitt (Special Consensus, Michael Prewitt & CrunchGrass Supreme), and Jeff Guernsey (Vince Gill, The Judds, The Bibelhauser Brothers).

Reflecting on the partnership with Common Loon, Eubanks shares: “I was struck by Justin Stickler’s commitment to supporting independent music and the care he puts into every release. I hadn’t seriously considered making another solo record, but watching the label in action sparked the question, ‘What if?’ After a few conversations with Justin and Michael Prewitt, things fell into place. Having admired Aaron and Jeff’s many talents—and after working with them on Michael’s second album—I knew I wanted to collaborate with them further. Thankfully, they felt the same.”

Common Loon Records owner Justin Stickler expressed his excitement about the signing:“Danbringsanemotionaldepthandtechnicalmasterytohissongwriting,as well as a musical ability on the bass that’s absolutely second to none. We’re beyond excitedtosupporthismusicalvisionforthisnewalbumandtohelpgetitoutintothe world. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to welcome Dan to the label.”
